Baby olive ridley sea turtles make their way to the Pacific Ocean

Baby olive ridley sea turtles make their way to the Pacific Ocean after hatching in an incubator and being released in El Astillero, Nicaragua, Tuesday, March 10, 2009. The project 'Coastal Zone' run by the Fauna and Flora International (FFI) conservation organization is promoting alternatives to local communities that have long depended on the sale of turtle eggs as a seasonal source of food and income. The project employs local people, often ex-poachers, as guards to patrol beaches and maintain hatcheries where clutches of eggs are protected in controlled conditions during incubation.
